Wild Turkey Farms News- March 23
We're still here and staying busy which is our specialty for this time of year. The first "official" sign of spring appeared last week in the form of a 4 foot black snake crawling through the pig pasture. Unfortunately for the snake, the pigs don't take real kindly to trespassers. Normally I'd relocate the snake to a distant area of the farm, but since he was steadily heading towards the 200 chickens that had just been put out on pastures, I didn't intervene.
Last week we were saddened by the loss of "Momma Cow". She's been a member of the family for nearly 10 years now and last Friday night she fell victim to a lightning strike. She was one of the friendliest cows we've ever had and was always one of the first to come check out the farm visitors so she'll be missed. On a brighter note I'm sure many of you may remember "Ice Cream", one of our bottle-fed/ bathroom raised lambs from last year, well she had her first baby lamb Tuesday "Sno-Cone". Ice Cream & Sno-Cone are doing good and I'm sure will be the most aggravating duo on the farm soon.
