WTF News- March 1, 2013

Happy Dang Near Spring!

Another month has come & gone.  I am glad to announce that we finished up our new cold frame just before the rain began to fall last week so we will have at least that much dry ground to start planting in for our spring/ summer CSA.  Hopefully we'll begin filling it up the first of the week if I can shake this bronchitis that's had me about 80% out of commission for the past 4 days.  I finally went to the doctor today. After he'd diagnosed me and written a prescription he asked if I needed a note for work.  I thought about it for a minute and decided the animals wouldn't care whether I had a note or not and my wife would probably beat me with it if I tried to use it to get out of housework so I politely declined.......

Congratulations to Ben & Courtney (our faithful WTF helpers at DFM) on the birth of a daughter, Violet May Frye, last week.  Mother & Baby are at home & doing well!!!

We'll be back at the Davidson Farmers Market this Saturday 9-noon.

  • If you can't make it to DFM just give us a call and come by the farm  704-202-9348

Salisbury Farmers Market starts up April 20th- The location is moving this year due to the old site being sold.  We don't know where the new site will be yet but we will keep you posted as things develop!

For our Charlotte Friends-

We are excited to announce that we are working with Greeneman Farms at 7th Street Market (the former Know Your Farms spot) to make some WTF items available.  The current supply is limited but we hope to increase our offerings.  We will also be glad to deliver special orders for pick up there.  This is also looking like it will be a pick up site for our spring CSA.

WTF NEW IDEA ALERT- We're currently working on our plans to offer In Home Butchery Classes.  What could be more fun (or convenient) than an evening of swine butchery in your home or at work?  We'll bring everything we need break down a pig into delicious chops, sausages, roasts, and bacon.  You supply the place.  This is a great way to develop some basic butchery skills and stock your freezer too!  Email us for details if your interested.

Don't forget to check out our Wild Turkey Farms Facebook page and "like" us to get the most up to date info.
