When it rains, it pours...and then rains
again.
I
think this will go down as the summer of rain for NC. As I look at the
waist high crabgrass in the garden (head high in spots) it's hard to believe
that Labor Day weekend is finally here. For me, it usually represents
that closure of summer and an end to the long humid days of July and August but
not so much this year. It's an odd feeling to be going into fall after
such a mild and wet summer. Almost as though we've missed out on
something by not having those unbearable, sweltering days. This marked
our 15th summer as WTF (and nearly my 40th overall) and as far as I can
remember this is the first August that there weren't days that forced us into
starting early in the morning, knowing it was going to be 90 degrees by 10am
and triple digits after lunch. I guess it's like going for a hike and not
getting poison ivy, it's nice it worked out that way but there's still the
feeling that something is missing.

hope that everyone has had a great week and we'll see you at the market!
