Consider the Farmers' Market this giving season...

Some of our work at the farmers' market involves cooking demos and community outreach. We've visited Catawba College, the Master Gardeners association and Southeast Middle School among other places to talk about the benefits of local food. If you'd like to support this work, you can make a donation through our partner, Bread Riot. Donate halfway down the page and add a "Comment" including the words "Farmers Market".

What WTF did over summer vacation

The WTF crew did miss seeing all of our friends & customers at the Markets over the summer (I hope you missed us too!).  There have been quite a few of you that still come out to the farm.  Thanks for your continued support!!

If you remember one of the things that we wanted to do this summer was spend more time together as a family especially with our boys who are growing like weeds.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our summer together.  Here are a few pictures from our summer vacation.

Lee got to do some scuba diving.

Charlie went to Robotics camp & Rosty to Boy Scout camp

Gem mining in Hiddenite.

On the Blue Ridge Parkway

Playing in a creek

Visiting family in Virginia & stopping at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

Celebrated a birthday boy

These are just a few of our adventures this summer.
The kids had a blast & we enjoyed this time with them.

SFM Newsletter- Septmeber 11th

Hey Market Friends,

Summer veggies are slowing down as our kale and other greens are planted and start to grow. Tomatoes in particular are in decline as well as our sweet corn. Get it while it lasts...

Also Bame farms has been mostly out of beef for almost a month but plans to be back next week (the drought has been tough on their grass finished cows!). Two Pigs Farm can fill in with a lot of your needs if you're looking for good, healthy pasture-raised antibiotic free meat.

And a quick note here: yesterday on Facebook, I mentioned UpsideDown Farms produces better in cooler fall weather but it turns out they'll be gone this weekend. Sorry mushroom fans!

Finally, don't forget we're open until December 19th! We have meat, eggs, veggies, baked goods and more the whole year! And we hope to start welcoming back our fall craft vendors soon!

Market Chef Sept. 19th

We had very well attended market chef competitions last year but haven't had enough people pre-register this year for the Cooperative Extension to come out and facilitate. We'd really like to feature youth chefs for our event planned September 19th. PLEASE sign up with your kid in advance if you and your child would like to participate!

Nonprofit spotlight: Crosby Scholars

I got my wires crossed last week and Historic Salisbury Foundation visited the market not Crosby Scholars... My apologies!

THIS week, the Crosby Scholars are visiting the farmers' market to hand out information. And they have an upcoming event "BBQ, Bands, and Boots" that will help them continue their college readiness programs. On September 25th. Check out facebook.com/RowanCrosbyScholars for more information.
