Baby Goats

It's always a fun time of the year when we have babies on the farm. But there isn't always a happy ending and that's just a fact of life. So far we have had 4 baby goats born and 3 have not made it. The first set of twins was born on one of the coldest nights we had (12 degrees) and I believe the mom did all she could for them. Sadly, I found them during the morning feedings.
The second set of twins Lee had to assist in the birth. The male (and the bigger of the two) was coming out in a breach position. When he was born he was not breathing. Lee tried to revive him but he never took his first breath. Luckily, his sister (pictured below) was fine.
Mom on the other hand has been moving kind of slow (all of us mom's out there can sympathize with her). We believe her mammary glands may be a little inflammed so we have been giving her plenty of TLC.
