Wild Turkey Farms News- February 11, 2011

Another busy week here at Wild Turkey Farms. Ice Cream ( the bottle fed lamb in our bathroom) is still alive and doing well. Of course what lamb wouldn't enjoy heated accommodations and room service on a day like this? While she's living in the lap of luxury, the rest of her semi brothers & sisters are popping out left & right and doing fine. So far we are about half way through the spring lambing and I hope it continues this well. The greenhouse is off to a good start this year so the plans for our spring CSA are shaping up nicely. Baby broiler chicks arrived this week and are growing fast. We're planning on stepping up our chicken production this year so we should have chicken available by the time the markets open and keeping them in stock all summer. We're also pleased to announce that we will soon be adding rabbit to our list of naturally raised meats soon so stay tuned for info o! n that. Well I guess I'd better get off here and get to work. Have a great weekend & we'll see you at the market.

Davidson Farmers Market This Weekend 9-noon
We'll be at Davidson this weekend so come by & stock up. We're still really low on our beef but we did restock on our lamb this week. With the cold weather & short days our chickens are still on a semi strike so come by early to get eggs because they will go quick.

If you can't make the market shoot us an email and come by the farm or we'll figure out how to get your order to you.

Wild Turkey Farms CSA 2011- Community Supported Agriculture or CSA is a relationship between a food producer and food consumers. This buying concept was sprouted from the idea that the customer was investing in a particular farm business they respected by buying a CSA share, similar to buying stock in a company. Our plan is to offer shares for a 10 week period starting mid-late April. We will have a weekly box of our fresh organically grown produce in $12 and $20 shares available. We haven't ironed out all of the details but ours will be with the option to add items like eggs or meats to your weekly pick up. Shares will be available to pick up at the farm during the week. The available shares are being spoken for quickly so if you are interested please email us to be put on the list.

Day Of The Pig 2011- Wild Turkey Farms & Chef Charles Catering are proud to offer our 1 of a kind Charcuterie Workshop again this year. Once again we will have a full day of exploring the ancient art of transforming a whole pig into delicious cuts, sausages, cured meats, and pates. Class size is limited to maximize hands on, individual instruction so sign up soon. A gourmet wine lunch prepared by Chef Charles and his team is provided.
